| Berkeley
County Located in the center of the Eastern Panhandle of the state, Berkeley County is generally credited with the first permanent settlement in the state. Bunker Hill was settled in the early 1730s. In recent years the natural charm and beauty of the area has attracted industry and residents from other nearby states and the District of Columbia.
